About us
Our story
The idea of Talkon was born in 2018, when we, Leetal Tisman and Hila Bornstein, realized that the only way to solve the inefficiency of speech therapy and long wait times was by digitizing part of the process. When we couldn’t find a solution in existing options, we decided to develop one ourselves.
From the very beginning, we were welcomed by the tech community:
In April 2019, we were selected from hundreds of candidates to participate in the prestigious XLR8 accelerator, led by the world-renowned venture capitalist Erel Margalit. The following year, we took part in the exclusive international competition for technology-based ventures, MassChallenge 2020, and received support from a leading innovation authority.
The addition of Michael Schiller to the founding team in mid-2020 further strengthened Talkon’s commitment to accessible technology innovation.
Michael joined the team with extensive experience in system development and shares our vision that adapting digital tools is a necessary next step for all businesses, including more traditional industries. He is the driving force behind the development of the Talkon system and the one who brings our vision to life.
As we refined our concept, we realized the importance of optimizing the therapy process itself. Our goal was to create a system that would streamline the therapists’ work, allowing them to focus more on treatment while also providing an app that keeps parents involved in their child’s therapy. This app serves as a personal tool for parents, seamlessly integrating into their daily routine and supporting a collaborative therapy process with all those involved in the child’s care.
In two years we spoke to hundreds of SLPs and parents, in various countries around the world. Using their feedback, we fine-tuned the system to address the entire spectrum of challenges SLPs face during their work, including administrative and professional aspects of the field.
Throughout the process, our main goal was to develop a tool that significantly improves how SLPs work, making therapy shorter and more efficient, cutting wait times, and allowing more children to improve their communication skills during the critical window of early childhood.
Today, Talkon is becoming recognized as a basic tool for SLPs, as hospitals, private practices and thousands of SLPs take part in our revolution.
